2016 in Review

I’m not entirely sure how to begin this post, but I guess I should begin by saying that 2016 was one of the best and worst years for me. Professionally speaking, 2016 was incredible. At the beginning of the year I created a set of goals and much to my surprise I actually reached and surpassed them all. This year I didn’t let fear dictate my choices and I took on challenges that were outside of my comfort zone. In this sense, 2016 was a very liberating year for me. This year I really started to believe that I could make a career in this industry and I hit the ground running. I travelled with my family, photographed places I only dreamed of going, and even fulfilled a big goal of attending a workshop to expand my skill set, network with others in the industry and learn from some of my biggest inspirations.

My personal life wasn’t as reflective of the success I experienced professionally. I didn’t speak about it at the time because I still feel as though I’m coming to terms with it on a daily basis. I experienced two losses in my family this year that hit me hard. I don’t want to speak on this much, but I do want to acknowledge my amazing clients who were so accommodating to me during this time. Being able to have a creative outlet was very therapeutic for me and gave me a sense of purpose during a time when I didn’t feel like I had much of one.

It’s hard to wrap up an entire year in a few paragraphs so I thought I would share some of my favourite memories through a series of photos. I feel like I say it over and over, but my life wouldn't be nearly as amazing without all of the wonderful people in it. So thank YOU for an amazing 2016, I hope you experienced immense happiness and success in this past year. I look forward to building new relationships in 2017 and seeing where this journey takes me next.
