West Avenue Cider Wedding | Shannon + Paul

Sometimes I kick myself that it takes me so long to blog the amazing weddings I shoot throughout the year, and Shannon and Pauls beautiful day at West Ave Cider is one of them! Shannon and Paul were one of the first couples to get married at West Ave, and I can see why they fell in love with it. The sprawling orchards and seriously drop dead gorgeous getting ready cabin made for an unforgettable day. The intimate day was so thoughtfully planned by the couple, with guest experience being at the top of their priority list. I’ll let them tell you about their day below, I hope you enjoy!

If you could pick your favourite moment from your wedding day, what would it be?

Shannon- I have 2.. The first was our first look. As soon as I was able to (finally!) see Paul all my nerves were gone and I was able to really enjoy the day. The second was on the dance floor. It was surreal but wonderful to look around and see all our favourite people having the best time.

Paul - The first look for sure. Shannon was stunning.

What advice would you give to couples who are in the process of planning their wedding?

Do a first look! We recommend it for 2 reasons.. 1. Once we were able to see each other all the nerves went away. Can't imagine seeing Paul for the first time in front of all our friends and family - I wouldn't have been able to hold it together (no one wants an ugly cry on their wedding day). 2. It gives you more time to enjoy cocktail hour.

Would you do anything differently for your day?

Nothing! It was perfect. That being said, leading up the wedding we did a lot of stressing about the weather. If i could go back in time I'd ban myself from The Weather Network until the day or two before... it caused unnecessary stress (maybe that's a 2nd piece of advice).

How did you envision your wedding day coming together and what helped you achieve it?

We wanted our wedding to be a celebration. We, of course, wanted to celebrate our love and the commitment we made to each other, but it was also a chance for all our favourite people to come together, meet each other and have a good time. Without a doubt, bringing together all our favourite and trusted vendors was what helped us achieve our vision. We are really lucky to be connected to some amazing local businesses and we knew they needed to be part of our wedding. It meant we had the flowers, rings, dress, suit, food, band, photographer (!) and venue that we loved and we knew that there wasn't anything to worry about. We were in good hands!
